Cleveland
It was hard to watch ESPN yesterday as all anyone could talk about was the fact that Kyrie Irving didn’t have a single assist in the Cavs’ loss to the Jazz the other night. While that’s certainly a surprising statistic, the Cavs have only played four meaningful games together this season. There is no reason to overreact this early in the season. Tonight the Cavs travel to Denver in one of three games with a total of 207 points. The Nuggets are one of the worst defenses in the league and the Cavs should finally be able to get things clicking offensively.
Prime Plays
Kevin Love – Love is the one Cavs player that I will be using in cash games tonight. His price is at an all-time low despite averaging 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. The Nuggets have given up the seventh most fantasy points to opposing PFs this season and are also a bad rebounding team. You heard it here first: Love will have a monster outing tonight against the weak frontcourt of the Nuggets.
Secondary Plays
LeBron James – It’s hard to justify paying up for LeBron at this point in the season. There are enough value plays to fit him in your lineup, but it’s probably best to avoid him until the Cavs figure things out offensively.
Kyrie Irving – Irving didn’t have a single assist the other night, but he brought the Cavs back by scoring 33 points. He’s still an elite PG that deserves fantasy consideration in an uptempo game against the Nuggets.
Denver
The Nuggets forgot to show up to the arena on Wednesday night. They were quickly down by 20 before some Kings fans even go to their seats. Hopefully they can put up a better showing tonight against the Cavs at home. The Cavs are ranked 27th in defensive efficiency this season so the Nuggets should have no problems scoring.
Prime Plays
Ty Lawson – Lawson has done little to inspire confidence this season, but he does draw a terrific matchup against Kyrie Irving and the Cavs who have not defended the PG position over the last two seasons. If there was ever a game for Lawson to break out, this would be it.
Secondary Plays
Kenneth Faried – Faried has been inconsistent this season, but he has played well in his two home games. That’s a trend that has continued from last season as Faried averaged nearly 10 more fantasy points per game at home than he did on the road.
