New Orleans

New Orleans continues their short, three game, Californian road trip tonight against the Clippers. This is the perfect game to end the night with since it will likely be the most entertaining game with plenty of fantasy-relevant players. The marquee matchup of Anthony Davis versus Blake Griffin will be the best of the day to watch, so hopefully the Pelicans can keep the game close.

Elite Plays

Anthony Davis — Davis is pretty much a good play any day, regardless of the matchup, it’s just a matter of whether you can fit him within your salary cap or not and be comfortable with the rest of your roster. While playing Davis at home is something everyone recommends, we’ve seen the splits even out to a point where there’s fewer than three fantasy points separating his home/away averages.

Tyreke Evans — Evans is a guy that you want to use when the opposing team doesn’t have dominant rim protectors. While DeAndre Jordan can rack up blocks, his (and Griffin’s) interior defense overall is lacking. The Clippers give up the sixth-highest field goal percentage under five feet.

Secondary Plays

Omer Asik — Asik is one of the best rebounders there is and he’s facing a frontcourt that seems very disinterested in rebounding this season. There aren’t a lot of options at center tonight, but Asik is a comfortable one.

L.A. Clippers

Something worth noting about the Clippers’ fantasy production recently is that most of it has been done without fourth quarters. The Clippers have been blowing teams out, and the starters aren’t needed. The Clippers are big favorites against tonight, but I’m of the mindset that attempting to project blowouts is not the optimal way to go about things. The usual suspects are all in play here tonight.

Elite Plays

Blake Griffin — Of course this is a tough matchup against Anthony Davis, but the offensive aggression that Griffin has played with makes him an enticing play. Even in the games with limited minutes, his recent matchups have had him hovering around 40 fantasy points. If he hits his season average in minutes, we should see him around 50 fantasy points instead.

Secondary Plays

DeAndre Jordan — There will be plenty of opportunities for blocked shots here for Jordan with how often Tyreke Evans drives to the basket. When the Pelicans faced the Warriors the other night, Andrew Bogut ended the night with four blocks in 29 minutes. DeAndre has been playing well lately for the Clippers also with three or more blocks in his last four games and he’s always a double-double threat.
