San Antonio

Get ready to be “Pop’ed” tonight as the Spurs are playing in the second half of a back-to-back. Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, and Manu Ginobili all logged big minutes in last night’s win over the Clippers and Coach Pop has a tendency to rest his veterans in these situations. Hopefully we will hear what the Spurs plans are for tonight’s game well in advance of lineup lock, but we can only hope. In terms of the Spurs matchup, this is a tough one. The Warriors are ranked first in defensive efficiency and have held their opponents to an average of 94.8 points per game.

Prime Plays

Kawhi Leonard – Leonard is still dealing with symptoms from his eye injury, but he hasn’t let it affect his play. Over the last two games, Leonard is averaging 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. With this being the second half of a back-to-back for the Spurs, look for Coach Pop to lean heavily on his young players tonight as they square off against the Warriors.

Secondary Plays

This all depends on what Coach Pop decides to do tonight. If Pop decides to sit his veterans, fire up the backups as secondary plays tonight against the Warriors.

Golden State

The Warriors are one of the best teams in the NBA. They have everything in place to contend for a championship, not it just comes down to execution. Tonight they square off against the defending-champion Spurs, who may be at less than full-strength. For this analysis, I’m going to assume that the Spurs will play all of their starters. If Coach Pop decides to rest his veterans, this game could easily turn into a blowout, which would hurt the fantasy appeal of the Warriors tonight.

Prime Plays

Stephen Curry – Curry has been close to unstoppable this season. He is averaging 28 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals which equates to 48.2 fantasy points (FD scoring) per game. He has as much upside as any player on the board tonight and is a great anchor to build your lineup around. Curry draws a favorable matchup against Tony Parker and the Spurs, who are ranked 16th against opposing PGs this season.

Draymond Green – Green has really made the most of David Lee’s injury. He has been terrific for the Warriors this season averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. He has scored at least 30 fantasy points in three straight and has a great chance to make it four in a row tonight against the Spurs at home. The Spurs have given up the seventh most fantasy points to opposing PFs this season.

Secondary Plays

Klay Thompson – Thompson is currently listed as questionable for tonight’s game, but he went through shoot-around and said that he expects to play tonight. He makes a nice tournament play as his ownership levels will be down.
