FSL: Ten Player – 275 Point Cap Tournament

I’m covering the Fantasy Sports Live Ten Man Tourney for Wednesday and throwing in some picks for the Thursday and Friday night games this week. Make sure you check the game time status for all players. Next week I’ll be covering one of the newer sites on the daily scene, DraftStreet.com, so be on the lookout for that.

There’s one big rule for playing multiplayer tournaments: You have to take some chances. Creating a safe comfortable lineup where each player is expected to hit their average score won’t usually be enough to get the money. You have to throw in some guys with big upside along with those solid players. It’s a high risk, high reward strategy, but it pays off over the long run. Here’s my FSL Ten Player Tournament roster for Wednesday night:

Pos. Player Cost Notes
PG Chris Paul 36 pts Chris Paul is arguably the best point guard in the league and he has a good matchup against a Houston team that likes to run up and down the floor.
PG Deron Williams 30 pts If Chris Paul is the best point guard in the league, then Deron Williams is 1A. He‘s got an awesome matchup against the Raptors and a defenseless Jose Calderon and Jarrett Jack
SG Monta Ellis 36 pts Stephen Curry could miss this game and the Warriors will lean hard on Ellis to keep them in it with his shooting. He had 46 earlier in the week and he can go off at any time.
SG Joe Johnson 29 pts Joe does a little bit of everything and he hardly ever has a bad night. He gets the Pistons who only have a healthy Ben Gordon at SG.
SF Gerald Wallace 28 pts Wallace gets a weak New Jersey team and will be matched up against Travis Outlaw. He should dominate with his scoring and should also pick up a decent amount of rebounds in this one.
SF Stephen Jackson 24 pts I think Jackson is underpriced at 24 points and the matchup is good against the New Jersey Nets. He’s a good cheap pick with high upside.
PF Blake Griffin 29 pts Griffin has been a beast and he has a great matchup against a Thunder team who have a big problem with interior scorers. The beast should feast in this one.
PF Dirk Nowitzki 34 pts Nowitzki goes against a Denver team that likes to run and has some injury problems on the interior. Shelden Williams is the starting PF for Denver and there’s no way he can cover Dirk on the perimeter.
C Chris Kaman 26 pts This one is a gamble. Oklahoma City has a very weak interior and Kaman will be matched up on Serge Ibaka. The Clippers’ offense should take it inside most of the night and Kaman should benefit.

Thursday

There are only two games on the schedule for Thursday night and both of them are on TV, so I’m sure a lot of you guys will be playing and enjoying watching your players. Here’s my picks for the Thursday night doubleheader:

Derrick Rose – He put up 39 a couple nights ago and could put something similar on the Knicks.

Amare Stoudemire – LaMarcus Aldridge put 33 on Taj Gibson, so Amare should have a big day against him.

Luol Deng – He put up 40 in his last game and he’s still reasonably priced on most sites.

Joakim Noah – Noah against Timofey Mozgov, I’ll take that matchup.

Russell Westbrook – He’s looking like a Top 5 Daily Fantasy PG.

LaMarcus Aldridge – He put up 33 this week, so keep riding him.

Friday

It’s a huge 12 game schedule on Friday night and here are some of my favorite picks:

John Wall – He’s got a prime matchup against Raymond Felton and the Knicks. This should be a high scoring game.

Dwyane Wade – Trevor Ariza will probably get stuck on LeBron James leaving Marco Belinelli on Wade. That just isn’t fair.

Rudy Gay – He’s matched up against an old, slow Grant Hill and a Phoenix team who likes to run. It should be a high scoring game and Gay will get his points.

Pau Gasol – The Lakers face Toronto and Andrea Bargnani. Gasol could grab 20 rebounds.

Blake Griffin – Matched up against Sheldon Williams. Get ready for the beast Shelden.

Amare Stoudemire – Matched up against Andray Blatche. Stoudemire should get the best of that one.

Danny Granger – He gets the Bucks at home. Carlos Delfino will have a difficult time slowing Granger down.

Good luck this week.
