The NBA has 11 games on tap for Wednesday, including an ESPN doubleheader – beginning with the Timberwolves against the Heat at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by the Warriors against the Lakers.
Of course, the return of the regular season also means re-integrating the NBA injury report into your daily routine. AJ Dybantsa, Kon Knueppel, and Aaron Nesmith are among the most notable absences for tonight’s slate.
As always, be sure to use tools like CourtIQ and our NBA starting lineups page to evaluate how injuries impact usage and to search for inefficiencies in the player prop and DFS markets.

Best NBA Player Props for Wednesday, October 21st
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 21st:
- Darius Garland Over/Under 8.5 Assists
- Luka Doncic Over/Under 32.5 Points
- Walker Kessler Over/Under 11.5 Points
Darius Garland UNDER 8.5 Assists (-138, DraftKings)
Garland was the primary facilitator for the Clippers during the preseason, but it’s still doubtful this is a player who will average near 10 assists per game. The shot-making ability around him in Los Angeles isn’t as strong as it was during his time in Cleveland, so any increase in volume of passing will likely be offset by reduced efficiency.
The Kings don’t profile to be a strong defensive team, but this is still a tall number for Garland to clear. Our ScoresAndOdds projections have Garland at 7.9 assists tonight.
Luka Doncic OVER 32.5 Points (-102, Novig)
Doncic led the NBA in scoring last season, averaging 33.5 points in 35.8 minutes per game. During this year’s preseason, Doncic scored 59 points in 60 minutes.
Los Angeles lost LeBron James and Rui Hachimura in free agency – both of whom averaged 11.5 points per game or more last season. The consequence is a roster with not many guys who can create their own shot beyond Doncic and Austin Reaves.
Golden State’s roster is extremely flawed on the defensive end of the floor, lacking size and talent. It doesn’t help that 38-year-old Stephen Curry is already nursing ankle and knee injuries.
Few people would be surprised if Doncic scored 40 points this evening, assuming a semi-competitive game script.
Walker Kessler OVER 11.5 Points (-125, BetMGM)
The Lakers paid an exorbitant price to acquire Kessler from the Jazz this past July – unprotected 1st-round picks in 2031 and 2033 and 1st-round swaps in 2028 and 2030. Los Angeles also inked Kessler to a 4-year, $130 million contract as part of their commitment to him as a core member of the team.
Teams don’t invest this much draft capital in role players. Kessler should be expected to play a big role for the Lakers on both ends of the floor this season.
On Wednesday, he draws a favorable matchup against an undersized Golden State team. The only Warriors starter who is taller than 6’6” is rookie Yaxel Lendeborg.
Golden State allowed the 7th-highest field goal percentage on shots in the restricted area last season, which is where the majority of Kessler’s shot attempts came from in his last fully healthy season. This is good value.
