Friday’s 6-game NBA slate will be headlined by an ESPN doubleheader, beginning with the Cavaliers against the 76ers at 7:00 PM ET and followed by the Timberwolves against the Rockets.
There are a number of notable names on the NBA injury report to begin the weekend, with Darius Garland, Anthony Edwards, and Kawhi Leonard already ruled out. Ivica Zubac and Tari Eason are questionable as of this writing.
As always, be sure to use tools like CourtIQ and our NBA starting lineups page to evaluate how injuries impact usage and to search for inefficiencies in the player prop and DFS markets.

Best NBA Player Props for Friday, January 16th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Friday, January 16th:
- Ivica Zubac To Record a Double-Double
- Rudy Gobert To Record a Double-Double
- Saddiq Bey Over/Under 4.5 Rebounds
Ivica Zubac To Record a Double-Double (-110, FanDuel)
According to CourtIQ, Zubac is averaging 14.9 points and 11.2 rebounds per 30 minutes this season with Kawhi Leonard off of the floor. In his last 9 games with Leonard inactive, Zubac has yet to score fewer than 13 points, and he grabbed fewer than 11 rebounds in only 2 of the games. He’s had at least 20 rebound chances in each of those games.
Zubac has struggled since returning from injury, but he still ranks 9th in the NBA in rebound chances per game (18) since January 5th. If he can get 10 boards tonight, he should be able to collect his first double-double since January 7th, with Leonard’s absence likely increasing his volume on the offensive end of the floor.
Rudy Gobert To Record a Double-Double (+134, DraftKings)
According to CourtIQ, Gobert is averaging 11.2 points and 10.6 rebounds per 30 minutes this season with Anthony Edwards off of the floor. In his last 5 games with Edwards inactive, Gobert has scored fewer than 14 points in only 1 game and never collected fewer than 12 rebounds.
Houston isn’t the most favorable matchup for Gobert, but they do deploy a traditional center, which should minimize the risk of Gobert having his minutes cut for reasons that aren’t related to foul trouble. This is great value at plus money.
Saddiq Bey OVER 4.5 Rebounds (-145, bet365)
According to CourtIQ, Bey is averaging 5.8 rebounds per 30 minutes this season with Herb Jones off of the floor. In 15 games with Jones inactive, Bey has cleared this number in 10 of the games.
The Pacers are not a great rebounding team. This is a good matchup to bet on Bey to grab some boards.
