Best NBA Player Props for Thursday, January 29th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Thursday, January 29th:
- Klay Thompson Over/Under 10.5 Points
- Drake Powell Over/Under 6.5 Points
- Jamal Murray Over/Under 8.5 Assists
Klay Thompson OVER 10.5 Points (-108, DraftKings)
According to CourtIQ, Thompson is averaging 14.2 points per 24 minutes this season with Anthony Davis and Naji Marshall off of the floor. Tonight, Thompson gets a favorable matchup against a Charlotte team that has allowed the 3rd-most 3-point attempts across their last 8 games. Thompson should have plenty of volume this evening, giving him a good chance to clear this number.
Drake Powell OVER 6.5 Points (-125, BetMGM)
Powell has played 1 game this season with both Noah Clowney and Cameron Thomas unavailable – he scored 5 points and took 6 shot attempts in that contest. He made only 1 of those shots, which is an obvious outlier in terms of efficiency, even for an inefficient player.
Tonight, the Nets will also be without Egor Demin. Powell should see roughly 24 minutes of playing time on Thursday, which should afford him a fair number of offensive opportunities. ScoresAndOdds projections have him for 7.1 points in this matchup.
Jamal Murray UNDER 8.5 Assists (-118, FanDuel)
Murray has posted 10+ assists in 2 of his last 3 games, but he hasn’t had more than 13 potential assists in a game since January 7. Simply put, it’s difficult to consistently rack up such high actual assist totals when he’s not creating an abundance of open looks for his teammates.
Brooklyn isn’t a prohibitive defensive matchup, but the risk of a blowout is real, which could lead to Murray not playing his normal allotment of minutes. Denver also continues to be down some key shooters, with Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and Cameron Johnson still on the mend.
This could be a sneaky under this evening.
