Tonight’s 12-game NBA slate will be headlined by an ESPN doubleheader beginning with the Nuggets against the Celtics at 7:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Lakers against the Spurs.

It’s another busy day on the NBA injury report, with stars like Josh Giddey, Jalen Duren, and Nikola Jokic already ruled out. Ja Morant and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are listed as questionable as of this writing.

As always, be sure to use tools like CourtIQ and our NBA starting lineups page to evaluate how injuries impact usage and to search for inefficiencies in the player prop and DFS markets.

Best NBA Player Props for Wednesday, January 7th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Wednesday, January 7th:

RotoGrindersGoogleTrustedSource

Peyton Watson UNDER 5.5 Rebounds (-112, bet365)

This season, Watson has only cleared this number twice in 14 games with Aaron Gordon active. Only 3 times in those 14 games has Watson had more than 8 rebound chances, further validating that he hasn’t had a supremely active role on the glass when Gordon is available.

The absence of Jokic undoubtedly increases rebounding opportunities across the team, but it simply doesn’t justify the number being this high for Peyton until proven otherwise.

Noah Clowney OVER 11.5 Points (-116, DraftKings)

Clowney has been scoring the basketball well this season, averaging 15.2 points per game since November 3. He’s scored in double figures in 17 of his last 20 contests during that span.

Tonight’s matchup against Orlando doesn’t profile as overly difficult. Clowney attempts a fair number of shots from above-the-break, which is an area that the Magic have been decidedly average defending in recent weeks. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Clowney flirt with 15 points once again on Wednesday.

Giannis Antetokounmpo UNDER 5.5 Assists (-150, BetMGM)

Antetokounmpo has posted 12+ potential assists in each of his last 2 games, which appears to be what the market is responding to ahead of tip-off this evening. However, it’s worth pointing out that Antetokounmpo still didn’t clear this number in either of those games, and he had 8 potential assists or fewer in each of his 6 games prior to that point.

If Antetokounmpo has another dozen potential assists this evening, it’s certainly possible he goes over this number. However, with any regression to the mean in terms of opportunity, it’s going to be difficult for him to get to 6 actual assists.
