NBA Preseason Primer: Friday, October 12th

Hello Grinders. Before we break down the slate, be sure to leverage the projections in LineupHQ, discussions in the RotoGrinders Discord chat and the Court Report live blog each weekday by SBK. The way I would approach NBA preseason is to use this article as a primer for the day and then rely on the Court Report if you can for the latest news right before tipoff. If you’re interested in learning more about what’s available or want to sign up, you can find information here.

Please Read – This is the final preseason slate and the hardest one I’ve written up these past two weeks. Thanks to everyone who has been reading and following along. It’s a big slate and I fully expect tons of news to come in during the day. There are some teams who as of Thursday night haven’t provided any information on expected minutes, starters or game plan. For that reason, some of the analysis on certain teams is thin. It’s not because of a lack of effort on my part but because they haven’t shared anything yet. Like always, I’ll highlight the news we know and what it means to me. I’ll do my best to keep it updated but my recommendation is to watch Court Report for the late breaking items.

Feel free to give me a follow on Twitter. Let’s dive in!

Detroit Pistons

What We Know:

Reggie Jackson practiced on Thursday but Stanley Johnson didn’t. No word on their status for Friday.

What This News Means To Me:

• We’re not working with a lot here. Follow Rod Beard here on twitter to monitor what the Pistons do. In their last game, Stan Van Gundy played the starters the following minutes:

Reggie Jackson (20), Reggie Bullock (26), Blake Griffin (27), Stanley Johnson (30), Andre Drummond (35)
Ish Smith played 28 minutes off the bench and if Reggie Jackson is ruled out or limited here, he’s someone I’d be interested in assuming he draws the start. Right now, my main players of interest are Drummond, Griffin, and Ish (pending Jackson’s status). I would be shocked if Johnson actually played in a meaningless game given his toe issue “flared up again” – that just doesn’t sound good.
