NBA Preseason Primer: Thursday, October 11th

Hello Grinders. Before we break down the slate, be sure to leverage the projections in LineupHQ, discussions in the RotoGrinders Discord chat and the Court Report live blog each weekday by SBK. The way I would approach NBA preseason is to use this article as a primer for the day and then rely on the Court Report if you can for the latest news right before tipoff. We have two more preseason slates before the regular season is finally upon us. Friday’s is a big one and will be a tough one to sort through, so it’s kind of nice we get a small two-gamer to ease things for us.

Toronto Raptors at New Orleans Pelicans

This is the backend of a back-to-back for the Raptors. Delon Wright got hurt on Wednesday and has been ruled out. Kyle Lowry got ejected after playing just 20 minutes and Coach Nurse said here “We’ll see if he’s going to play tomorrow.” Beat writer Josh Lewenberg also mentioned here that most of the regulars aren’t expected to play. Norman Powell also missed this game but Lewenberg tweeted here he’s hoping Powell can go today.

I think the most helpful thing to do is to have a depth chart available and just start crossing off names when we get information that a player is out. We know Wright is out so we can cross him off. Powell is questionable so I don’t want to cross him off just yet. The starters, especially Kawhi Leonard after he played 31 minutes, are likely candidates to rest. It sounds like there’s a chance Kyle Lowry could play, but I still wouldn’t expect many minutes:
