Williams of the Hornets

I’m here to give you a (free!) peek behind the curtain regarding some of the awesome things our NBA DFS projections team is cooking up by giving you my top picks for today’s NBA slate on Underdog Fantasy. Every single pick you will find below is going to be based on what our projections say is a meaningful edge, and I will then use my basketball and analytical background to try to pinpoint the very best of the best. Please keep in mind that the NBA news cycle can get crazy, so what is listed below may become a better/worse play depending on how that news breaks. You can always stay up to date on exactly what a team’s rotation and depth chart will look like on a given day by heading to our NBA starting lineups page.

We have 7 games on the schedule as the NBA is set to tip off on 12/30. Below, I’ll detail how I’m approaching things on Underdog this Monday evening.

Underdog Fantasy – one of the most popular DFS pick’em sites – provides player projections for NBA matchups each day. The ball is then in our court to decide whether a player will ultimately exceed or fall short of those projections in the games. With a huge roster of players available from which to choose, we just need to make a minimum of two picks to build an entry.

I’ll break down the board by looking at factors like usage rates, projected pace, lines in the sports betting market, and of course, our RotoGrinders projections to forecast how NBA players might fare in categories like points, rebounds, and assists. Underdog Fantasy Top NBA Picks for 12/30

Now that you’re signed up, here are some of our top NBA picks on Underdog for 12/30 at a glance:

Bulls vs. Hornets NBA Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Bulls vs. Hornets NBA Underdog Fantasy predictions for tonight:

Mark Williams Higher Than 14.5 Points + Assists

Williams is well-positioned to record higher than 14.5 points + assists tonight against the Bulls. In his only prior matchup with Chicago, he scored 15 points, and over his last 5 games, he’s averaged 14.7 combined points and assists. The Bulls defense ranks 29th in the league, allowing 121.4 points per game, and their struggles against centers create a favorable matchup for Williams. With the Hornets dealing with plenty of injuries, Williams could see an increased offensive role, making him a strong candidate to surpass this projection. His recent form and the Bulls defensive vulnerabilities align perfectly for this pick.

Our NBA projections show this pick with a 9.37% edge and a 67.11% win rate.

Mavericks vs. Kings NBA Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Mavericks vs. Kings NBA Underdog Fantasy predictions for tonight:

Trey Lyles Lower Than 11.5 Points + Rebounds

Lyles is likely to record lower than 11.5 points + rebounds tonight against the Mavericks. He’s averaging just 6.1 points and 4.1 rebounds this season, totaling 10.2 combined, which is below the 11.5 projection. Playing only 19.93 minutes per game, Lyles has a limited role in the Kings’ rotation, with Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox dominating scoring and rebounding opportunities. The Mavericks’ strong defense (111.5 points allowed per game) and solid rebounding (44.9 per game) further reduce Lyles’ chances of exceeding this mark. His season trends and matchup context make this a strong pick for tonight.

Our NBA projections show this pick with a 5.27% edge and 63.01% win rate.

Clippers vs. Pelicans NBA Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Clippers vs. Pelicans NBA Underdog Fantasy predictions for tonight:

Kris Dunn Lower Than 12.5 Points + Rebounds

Dunn is likely to record lower than 12.5 points + rebounds tonight against the Pelicans. He averages 7.0 points and 3.6 rebounds this season, totaling 10.6 combined, which is below the 12.5 projection. Dunn is not a primary scoring option for the Clippers, scoring lower than 7.5 points in 19 of 31 games. His role is more defensive, and with limited minutes (23.55 per game), his opportunities to contribute offensively and on the boards are restricted. While he had a strong game against the Warriors recently, his season-long trends suggest that performance was an outlier, making this a strong pick.

Our NBA projections show this pick with a 3.82% edge and 61.55% win rate.
