What is your favorite game-script build and why?
STLCards: Kickers and defenses? I just don’t see any way this game turns into a shootout with Tennessee’s willingness to play slow combined with Jacksonville’s offensive struggles. Throw in a QB, RB, and WR as needed, but don’t be afraid to play kickers or defenses in this game. There’s a natural aversion to loading up at those spots, but keep in mind that this game has a 40 point Vegas total, which is one of the lower ones you will see.
MrTuttle: Low scoring ground and pound affair. Even with neutral weather this game would shape up to be a ground and pound affair featuring Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette but when you add in the likelihood of 15-20 mph sustained winds it becomes even more likely that teams will avoid throwing the ball. Keep an eye on the forecast leading up to the game.
What is your favorite way to differentiate from the field?
STLCards: Take a shot on some of the Tennessee wide receivers. The snap counts are hard to peg here, with Corey Davis around the 80% mark, while Tajae Sharpe, Adam Humphries, and A.J. Brown all hover around 45-50%. That uncertainty brings about lower ownership, but someone is going to break out of this group. I’d rank them Davis > Brown > Humphries > Sharpe, but it’s not a clear-cut ranking.
headChopper: The way I am differing is by fading Derrick Henry, a player who should come in with a top 3 ownership. Instead, I will play pieces of this Titans passing game. The Jags have got to be a little salty after what he did to them on the island game last season.
MrTuttle: Target receivers running short, quick routes. It’s important to not overemphasize the effect of weather in the NFL but these two offenses are so miserable that targeting slot receivers makes sense regardless of Thursday’s expected forecast. Both Adam Humphries and Dede Westbrook have virtually zero production this season which may lead to them flying under-the-radar a bit.
What is your hot take for the game?
STLCards: Corey Davis goes for 125+ receiving yards and scores a touchdown.
headChopper: A.J. Brown catches 4 passes, with 2 of them being 50+ yard touchdowns.
MrTuttle: Adam Humphries is the top scoring WR.
