What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat the field? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
headChopper: I like 20-entry larger-fields tournaments for this opening Sunday afternoon slate. There are four games, and I like two of them to have high-scoring potential (HOU/LAR, DET/GB), one that’s sneaky (SF/SEA), and another that still has upside because the players are cheap (TEN/DEN). I think maximum stacking is a good way to get different this slate and shoot up the leaderboard if one of these games hits.
Stevietpfl: I tend to focus on one to three lineups for afternoon slate contests. With four games this week, I think lineup correlation is the most important part. I will have a QB stack with either a WR or a TE. If you like the stack enough, you can add another WR or play the TE to make it a three-person stack. I will try to pair WRs with a RB from the other team, and I’ll make sure to correlate my lineup as much as possible.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll just play a single-entry lineup for the afternoon slate. I want to try and jam in Jahmyr Gibbs, Puka Nacua, and Nico Collins into the same lineup. There are some cheap Houston receivers to make this work, and the salary cap is loose enough in Week 1 that it’s not that hard to jam in the stars. I am afraid of being underweight on Christian McCaffrey, but his calf injury could lower his snap count.

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
