NFL DFS Showdown Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday Night Football

DRAFTKINGS

Who are your three favorite Captains, ranked in order?

Notorious: Alvin Kamara, Javonte Williams, Bo Nix
headChopper: Alvin Kamara, Spencer Rattler, Bo Nix
ncorfield8k: Alvin Kamara, Bo Nix, Javonte Williams
Davis Mattek: Bo Nix, Alvin Kamara, Spencer Rattler

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Notorious: I prefer small-field and single-entry tournaments. This is such a strange slate that it’s going to be tough to figure out ownership. The expensive options are going to be popular, but ownership on the value plays should be spread out given how many of them are viable. My plan of attack is to be overweight on Devaughn Vele, who has caught 12 of 14 targets in 2 games this season. He should be the primary slot receiver against a team that has been awful at defending slot receivers.

headChopper: I’ll build 20 lineups and enter them into large-field tournaments, although this is a game where I think there could be an edge in single entry. I just don’t like to play that type of contest in Showdown. That edge, and my plan of attack, is to roster both D/STs well over the field and on the same lineup if the inactive report goes the way we expect with all the offensive injuries for the Saints.

ncorfield8k: Large-field tournaments – With Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, Josh Reynolds, and potentially Greg Dulcich all out, there is plenty of value on both sides of the ball. This is a great slate for leaving a significant amount of salary on the table. I’ll still have a lot of the five with the highest projections—Alvin Kamara, Javonte Williams, Bo Nix, Spencer Rattler, and Courtland Sutton—but I’ll mix in a good amount of both D/STs and some of the value receiving options to leave salary and avoid heavily-duplicated lineups.

Davis Mattek: This is what large-field tournament DFS was built for. Lucas Krull or Adam Trautman? Jordan Mims or Audric Estime? Not only do I not know the answer to that question, but the coaches for the Saints and Broncos do not know the answer either. I think the smartest thing you can do for this slate (and it is what I will be doing) is leaving massive, massive amounts of salary on the table. Alvin Kamara, Bo Nix, and Spencer Rattler can fit in any lineup salary-wise and will be WAY over-owned relative to their optimal rates in SimLabs. What I will be doing is playing a bunch of lineups with 4 punts instead of 3, like Mason Tipton, Bub Means, Troy Franklin, AND Lucas Krull all together, because the combinatorial ownership of the punts will be low even if their individual ownerships are high.

What’s one rule/setting that you’re using in LineupHQ or SimLabs to capitalize on the above strategies?
