The Turkey Slate is finally here. I don’t know what it is about this slate, but it’s everyone’s favorite (mine included). I love the idea of having a slate where the games aren’t on at the same time. We can go through our lineups after each game and look for potential swaps to help improve our positioning in contests. Not only that, but there’s something special about the tradition of having football on during Thanksgiving.

If you are traveling for Thanksgiving, make sure to be safe. If you are going to be sweating the scores, have someone else drive if possible. With a new lady in my life, we are going to try to make both of our families’ Thanksgivings. Mine is about a 2-hour drive south from here, while hers is about a 30-minute drive north from here. It’s going to be a busy day, but there’s nothing better than spending time with friends and loved ones during the holidays (even if you aren’t a fan of everyone around the table).

As far as the outlandish Thanksgiving takes, they seemed to have slowed down this year. My timeline on social media is typically swarmed with people complaining about turkey and all of the fixings that go with it. I’m personally a huge fan of turkey, but it has to be cooked right, and it has to come with all of the side dishes — mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, rolls, sweet potatoes, and anything else anyone wants to bring.

NFL DFS Top Picks & Plays: Noto’s Key Personnel for the Thanksgiving Slate

My biggest piece of advice for the slate is to take a few minutes before the start of the 2nd and 3rd games to analyze each of your lineups. Late swap isn’t used enough on most main slates, and it certainly won’t be used enough for the Thanksgiving Slate. If your players get off to a bad start in the first game, you should pivot away from the chalk in the next game. And the same goes for the final game.

EXPERT PLAY TAGS

Caleb Williams: $5,300 DK / $7,200 FD

While I didn’t end up with any exposure, Week 12 was the first time I had actually considered playing Caleb Williams. They were at home playing against the Vikings in a game where I expected them to be trailing. He ended up throwing for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns. It’s to the point where we can’t ignore his rushing floor, as he’s racked up at least 33 yards on the ground in 5 of his last 7 games. He has struggled under pressure, but the Lions have one of the lowest pressure rates in the league. They are also one of the best defenses against the run and are sizable favorites, which sets up well for Williams and the passing game.
