Noto's Key Personnel: Week 5
A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. So who better to walk you through all of the key NFL DFS positions each week? Noto has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and he will mix it up in all different types of contests. In his Key Personnel article, he will walk you through his favorite NFL DFS picks, ways to pivot away from the chalk, and overall strategy for the upcoming slate.
Welcome back everyone. It’s hard to believe we are already to Week 5, but here we are. The main slate feels a little smaller than it actually is, largely because we have a lot of bad teams playing on Sunday. In terms of the individual games, we do have three that stand out in terms of the totals and the expected play volume. The Chiefs and Vikings square off in a dome in a game that features a total of 52.5 points, the Eagles and Rams will battle it out in Los Angeles, and the Giants and Dolphins face off in Miami.
This is the first week where it’s not as easy to build lineups that we like and those are the exact type of slates that we should look forward to as DFS players. They tend to reward those that put in more time on the roster construction front. I know this article can be a tad lengthy at times, but the goal is to give a complete overview of each position. Let’s stop wasting time with this intro and dive right into the slate.

Quarterback
EXPERT PLAY TAGS
This is one of those weeks where I will be actively looking to spend up at quarterback. It’s not that I don’t think the value plays can’t get there, but the cheaper options that are popping in the projections are far from reliable (we’ll cover them shortly). If you can find the extra cap space to pay up for a quarterback that is almost guaranteed to get 20+ fantasy points, I highly recommend it on this particular slate.
Patrick Mahomes has yet to have a breakout game from a fantasy standpoint, but his statistics are a bit misleading as a whole. There were three or four critical drops in the opener against the Lions that cost him a big chunk of yards and a potential touchdown. Additionally, he left the game against the Bears early, as he rolled his ankle and wasn’t needed much in the second half. He’s still topped 20 fantasy points in three of four games and now draws his best matchup to date. The Vikings are in the bottom half of the league in pass DVOA, they have allowed the ninth most fantasy points to quarterbacks, and they are 21st in pressure rate. The only issue with Mahomes is that his receivers are all too inconsistent to trust, but I don’t mind pairing him up with Travis Kelce or using him as a standalone play (which I usually don’t do at quarterback).
