This week’s edition of Sunday Night Football will feature Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons against J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. ET from US Bank Stadium.

Penix and the Falcons are coming off of a heartbreaking defeat in their season opener, blowing a late lead at home against the Buccaneers — including missing a game-tying field goal as time expired, which would have forced overtime. McCarthy and the Vikings had the opposite experience in Week 1, erasing a double-digit deficit on the road against the Bears to open the new campaign 1-0.

Ahead of kickoff this evening, oddsmakers have the Vikings priced as 3.5-point home favorites on the spread. Bettors can find updated NFL odds for the Falcons vs. Vikings game and the rest of this season’s NFL action at RotoGrinders. Best NFL Player Props for Sunday Night Football: Falcons vs. Vikings

Here are my top player prop bets, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 PM ET on Sunday, September 14th:

Justin Jefferson OVER 5.5 Receptions (-118, FanDuel)

Minnesota’s passing attack struggled in Week 1, but Jefferson was still the clear focal point of the offense. He garnered a team-leading 7 targets and an impressive 25% first-read target share. Following that contest against the Bears, Jefferson told the media that he has to “detail [his] things up better.”

Jefferson seems to have an extra level of focus and determination ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Falcons. The star wideout had 6+ receptions in 12 games last season and should once again see plenty of looks in Week 2.

Justin Jefferson OVER 72.5 Receiving Yards (-112, FanDuel)

Jefferson led all Minnesota receivers with a 9.9 aDOT in Week 1, which included a number of unrealized air yards on balls that were not charted to be catchable. Part of the issue was likely the fact that J.J. McCarthy was making his NFL debut on the road against a blitz-heavy defense, which put a lot of pressure on him to make quick decisions in the pocket. In Week 2, he should have more time to let routes develop and work through his progressions downfield against a mediocre Atlanta defense that doesn’t have an overwhelming pass rush. Jefferson should see plenty of looks in this matchup.

Jordan Mason OVER 13.5 Rushing Attempts (+106, FanDuel)

In the team’s season opener, Mason led the running back room with 15 rush attempts and 28 snaps, looking more like an RB1 than his teammate Aaron Jones. Mason received all 3 of the team’s carries in the red zone and was significantly more effective with his chances on the ground than Jones.

Atlanta did a good job bottling up Bucky Irving in Week 1, but Tampa Bay was also playing multiple offensive lineman out of position. Minnesota should be able to find more success on the ground this evening given that they are at home and have more talent up front than what Atlanta had to deal with last weekend.
