Michael Penix Jr. will make his return from offseason knee surgery to start on Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. He will be looking to elevate an Atlanta Falcons offense that has scored a league-worst 16 points through their first 2 games.
Green Bay has endured their own struggles early this fall, committing an NFL-worst 27 penalties. Entering Week 3, the Packers rank 29th in offensive EPA/play and 15th in defensive EPA/play.
Kickoff between Atlanta and Green Bay is set for 8:15 PM ET on Prime Video.
The NFL odds for this matchup have shifted tremendously since Penix was announced as the starter, moving from Packers -7 to only -4.5 as we near kickoff. The game total is set at 43 points.

Matthew Golden OVER 54.5 Receiving Yards (-113, Novig)
Head coach Matt LaFleur called Golden the team’s offensive player of the game in Week 2. Golden led the Packers with 4 receptions and 58 receiving yards but could have had a much bigger day – he drew an additional 61 yards on defensive pass interference penalties.
Golden had been targeted downfield at a high rate early this season. He’s creating a lot of separation and is a clear co-WR1 in terms of first-read targets through 2 games.
Atlanta has some issues in their secondary unit too, with star CB A.J. Terrell on injured reserve and slot CB Billy Bowman recovering from an Achilles injury. Golden should have plenty of opportunities to make an impact.
Chris Brooks OVER 13.5 Rushing Yards (-118, DraftKings)
DRAFTKINGSThere has been a lot of coach-speak surrounding Kaleb Johnson coming out of the team’s Week 2 game against the Jets, but Brooks has led Green Bay’s backfield in snaps in each of the team’s first 2 games. Brooks is also the only Green Bay running back who didn’t fumble in Week 2.
Brooks is averaging the fewest yards after contact of any Green Bay running back this season, but his role seems safe due to what he offers in pass protection and as a pass-catcher. That role usually comes with a handful of rush attempts per game.
Brooks had 7 rush attempts in Green Bay’s season opener and 4 rush attempts against the Jets last weekend. If he has another 5 carries tonight, he should have a great chance to clear this line.
Jordan Love OVER 18.5 Pass Completions (-138, FanDuel)
FANDUELGreen Bay’s offensive line is in rough shape due to injuries, which doesn’t bode well for their ability to protect Love for very long after the snap on a short week. The obvious game plan for Green Bay should be to get the ball out of Love’s hands quickly – a strategy that could pay dividends against an Atlanta secondary unit that has allowed the 10th-highest completion percentage over expected to quarterbacks this season.
