Playbook

Week 2 of the NFL regular season begins with a Thursday Night Football matchup between the Washington Commanders and Green Bay Packers from Lambeau Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 PM ET on Prime Video.

Both Jayden Daniels and Jordan Love led their respective teams to a season-opening victory in front of their home fans in Week 1. Tonight, however, both teams could potentially be without some key contributors. EDGE Deatrich Wise Jr. is listed as questionable for Washington after playing 40 snaps in the team’s season opener. Green Bay has LG Aaron Banks, CB Nate Hobbs, and S Zayne Anderson listed as questionable ahead of kickoff.

The NFL odds market has the Packers priced as 3.5-point home favorites on the spread, with the total set at 48.5 points.

Best NFL Player Props for Thursday Night Football: Commanders vs. Packers

Here are my top player prop bets, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 PM ET on Thursday, September 11th:

Josh Jacobs UNDER 18.5 Rushing Attempts (-114, FanDuel)

In Week 1, Jacobs carried the ball 19 times for 66 rushing yards, but it’s worth pointing out that the game script was as favorable as possible for running the football. Green Bay took a 7-0 lead on their first drive and was up 10-0 after the 1st quarter. Detroit never pulled within 7 points the rest of the day.

Tonight, there is a risk that Jacobs could see a slightly reduced workload given that he’s on only 3 days of rest and that he might not be fully conditioned to handle such a heavy workload in consecutive weeks to begin the season. There is also the risk that Washington simply puts up a good fight, forcing Green Bay into more obvious passing situations.

As of late afternoon, the Packers have some health concerns on their offensive line as well, which could impact their decision-making related to play-calling. There are a number of different ways in which this play could cash.

Jayden Daniels UNDER 9.5 Rushing Attempts (-134, DraftKings)

Daniels used his legs a lot in Washington’s season opener, running the ball 11 times. That being said, he faced a Giants defense that ran a lot of man coverage, which often gets the defense’s back turned to the quarterback, allowing him to escape the pocket for big gains.

Green Bay plays a lot more zone coverage, which should help contain Daniels in the pocket better than the Giants did in Week 1. There is always a risk that quarterback kneels at the end of either half burns us here, but it would be surprising to see Daniels run wild tonight.

Jayden Reed UNDER 40.5 Receiving Yards (-114, DraftKings)

Add this pick with 1 click!PLACE THIS BET ONDRAFTKINGS

Reed was highly productive with his opportunities in Week 1 against the Lions, securing 3 receptions for 45 receiving yards. However, he played only 18 snaps in that game – something that could continue to be a theme as he tries to play through a Jones fracture in his left foot.

While Reed played well and delivered solid numbers relative to his opportunities, it’s far from a guarantee that he will be able to produce similar numbers on a short week. Jones fractures typically require surgery, which means that, at a minimum, this injury isn’t going to get better throughout the course of the season as he continues to play.

If there is any compound soreness or any movement limitations related to him playing 2 football games in a span of 5 days on a bad foot, the under could have significant value here.
