In this space, we’ll look at exciting offers on the PrizePicks board for Week 5 of the NFL season and try to make some predictions based on projections, trends, and the market.

PrizePicks, one of the best DFS sites for NFL pick’em, lays out player projections for us, which we stack to create entries that pay real money. They prompt us with a statistical projection for a player, and we get to pick whether or not the player will get More or Less than the line offered. There are hundreds of players from whom to choose, and we only have to make at least two picks to create an entry. For Week 5, we’ll look at the board and see what usage, game flow, oddsmakers, and — of course — our projections can tell us about how players are likely to produce. We’ll look at passing, rushing, and receiving categories most weeks. We’ll also look at DEMON projections to boost our payouts.

Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season finally gives us some high totals to attack in what’s been a tough season to smash PrizePicks projections. Passing is way down across the league, scoring has leveled out, and the backfield timeshares are abundant. The higher totals this week could yield us more wins, as the PrizePicks projections are largely pretty low comparatively speaking.

Packers vs. Rams PrizePicks Predictions

Jordan Love MORE/LESS 274.5 Pass Yards (DEMON)

RotoGrinders has the Rams as the worst pass defense in the league. Jordan Love has thrown for 649 yards in his past couple of starts, averaging 9.9 air yards per attempt. 274.5 is just too low, considering the DEMON boost.

RotoGrinders has Love conservatively projected for 261 passing yards on the day. That has to be much closer to his floor than his ceiling. The Packers are throwing a good amount, Love is getting the ball downfield often, the Rams have a terrible pass defense, and the Packers have a 26-point implied total. We should be attacking with the Packers’ passing game a lot in Week 5, starting with Love’s passing yards DEMON projection.

Giants vs. Seahawks PrizePicks Predictions

Jaxon Smith-Njigba MORE/LESS 59.5 Receiving Yards (DEMON)

This is a high-variance play, but Jaxon Smith-Njigba has the potential for a ton of volume any given week, having seen 16 targets in Week 2 and 12 in Week 4. The problem, of course, is that he only saw 2 in Week 1 and 3 in Week 3, but shooting for 60+ receiving yards with a DEMON boost from a guy with a legitimate target ceiling in the double-digits is a plus-EV play. This Giants-Seahawks game only has a 42.5 total, but the Seahawks have an implied total near 25.

Bills vs. Texans PrizePicks Predictions

Cam Akers MORE/LESS 59.5 Rush Yards (DEMON)

I don’t like Cam Akers. You shouldn’t like Cam Akers. He’s averaging just 3.7 yards per carry through 29 attempts, but Week 5 gives Akers the chance to have whatever a ceiling game for Cam Akers looks like. Hosting the Bills in what projects to be a balanced attack, Akers as the primary back for an offense with a 24-point implied total has strong potential for 60+ rushing yards. RotoGrinders has Akers projected for 63.8 rushing yards on the day, so this is a tight squeeze, but the Bills are on the brink of blowing a big one against a high-powered Texans offense. The chance of implosion is too high to not have exposure to Akers.
