Weather Report and Forecast for NFL Week 15

Week 15 brings us an absolutely frigid weekend of football, with over 6 games being played below freezing.
This NFL weather report will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week. If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.
NFL Week 15 Weather Report and Forecast
As always, it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter/X @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my main weather page. A reminder that while temperature and rain/snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high wind, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.
Thursday Night Football, December 11th
Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Bucs – Great weather in Tampa Bay for TNF, temps in the 50s, light winds, and no precip.
Sunday Main Slate, December 14th
L.A. Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs – Absolutely frigid; temps should be around 20 degrees. Thankfully winds are light, and there’s no snow.
Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals – Another brutally cold game; temps here should come in only a bit over 10 degrees. Winds will be around 10 mph, not enough to impact the football itself for throws and kicks, but it’s enough to add to the chill.
Washington Commanders @ New York Giants – Sub-freezing temps, likely in the mid-to-upper 20s for most of the game. Winds will be blowing at a sustained 10-15 mph, with wind gusts around or a bit over 20 mph. Some snow is possible before the game, but it looks unlikely during the game.
*Cleveland Browns @ Chicago Bears -*Likely the coldest game of a freezing cold weekend, we’ll have temperatures around 10 degrees, maybe even colder. Winds should be 10 mph sustained, with gusts of 15-20 mph. No in-game snow expected.
Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots – Temps are likely a bit below freezing. The winds are a bit under 10 mph sustained; some snow here is possible.
Las Vegas Raiders @ Philadelphia Eagles – Another game with temperatures below freezing, likely in the upper 20s. Winds around 10-15 mph sustained with gusts around 20 mph. A snow shower or flurry is possible.
Indianapolis Colts @ Seattle Seahawks – Finally something other than just “cold.” There’s a chance for showers here, but as of now the intensity and coverage doesn’t look all that impressive. Temps are cool but not cold (50s), and winds stay fairly light.
Sunday Night Football, December 14th
Minnesota Vikings @ Dallas Cowboys – Indoors. No worries.
Monday Night Football, December 15th
Miami Dolphins @ Pittsburgh Steelers – Another freezing game with temps in the teens. Winds stay under 10 mph, and no precipitation is expected.
How Will the Weather in Week 15 Affect Betting & Fantasy Football Picks?
The big story this week is the extreme cold. There is a correlation between cold and scoring (the colder it is, the fewer points are scored), but the cold is not as impactful as heavy rain or high winds. The biggest impact comes in the form of kicking, as the combination of cold dense air and a cold rock-hard football makes it more difficult to kick longer field goals. Outside of maybe kickers, I don’t think these games are must-fades for offensive players.
In case things change, I’ll be posting radar GIFs to Twitter/X as we get closer to kickoff.
