Weather Report and Forecast for NFL Week 16

Bills QB Allen

Week 16 pulls us out of the deep freeze we saw in many locations last week, but we still have a bit of wind and rain to watch for.

This NFL weather report will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week. If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.

NFL Week 16 Weather Report and Forecast

As always, it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter/X @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my main weather page. A reminder that while temperature and rain/snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high wind, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.

Thursday Night Football, December 18th

L.A. Rams @ Seattle Seahawks – The most interesting weather game of the week: we’ll see pre-game winds in Seattle around 50 mph, gradually dropping through the night. Winds at kickoff could still be around 20 mph sustained with gusts pushing close to 40 mph, and by the 2nd half we’ll see much more manageable winds around or under 15 mph sustained with gusts down to around 30 mph. There’s also a chance for some rain, but it doesn’t look too heavy or widespread.

Saturday Slate, December 20th

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Commanders – Temp in the upper 40s with a 10 mph wind, no real issues there.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears – Game-time temp should be right around the freezing mark, with a 10 mph wind making it feel even a bit cooler. It’s not perfect weather, but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly significant either.

Sunday Main Slate, December 21st

Buffalo Bills @ Cleveland Browns – The worst of the weekend weather, as temperatures in Cleveland will be below freezing (upper 20s), and winds will be coming in at about 15 mph sustained with gusts of 25-30 mph. That’s not the worst weather we’ve ever seen in Cleveland by a long stretch, but it’s not ideal for longer throws or kicks. It’s a slight downgrade to passing, moderate downgrade to kicking.

Sunday Night Football, December 21st

New England Patriots @ Baltimore Ravens – The temperature is right around freezing, but with no precip or wind, it should be fine.

Monday Night Football, December 22nd

San Francisco 49ers @ Indianapolis Colts – Indoors, no worries.

How Will the Weather in Week 16 Affect Betting & Fantasy Football Picks?

My 2 games of note are the Thursday Night Football game in Seattle and the Sunday game in Cleveland. Neither of these are “must-fade” spots, but wind at this level can have a slight impact on the passing attack and is a sneaky deterrent on longer FG attempts. I don’t see either game as a fantasy fade, with the exception being potentially for kickers.

In case things change, I’ll be posting radar GIFs to Twitter/X as we get closer to kickoff.
