NFL Week 2: A Valuable Lineup

NFL Week 2: A Valuable Lineup

mike vick

Week 2 of the NFL is here, and it provides us with some interesting matchups. This is one of those weeks that can separate the good Grinders from the great Grinders. Almost all of the players you can ‘never-bench’ could find themeselves in benchable situations headed into Week 2. We’ve scoured the sites this week to provide you with a lineup composed of some of the best value picks heading into Week 2.

How to Read the Table: Each week we will give you our most ‘Valuable Lineup’. These are our top-picks while factoring in the cost of that player at a certain site or sites. The first number listed for each player and under each site is how much it will cost you to acquire that player for your lineup for that specific site, and the second number (after the forward slash) is the max cost for a player of the same position on that same site. While we definitely recommend this lineup for week 2, you can almost always create a more optimal lineup depending on the site you use and their salary structure. To do that, make sure to hone your skills by playing as much as possible and discussing strategy in our forums.

A Valuable Lineup – NFL Week 2

Position Notes DraftStreet Cost Draft Zone Cost
QB1 – Mike Vick Depending on the scoring, the Lions are giving up 20 fantasy points per game to oppossing QBs…through the air. Add to that the 16.7 points they are giving up on the ground, and Vick is likely a Top 5 QB this week; forget about the value. $13,015/$15,555 $5,320/$10,000
QB2 – Jason Campbell Not the smoothest showing in Week 1, but hey, that’s what the Rams are for, right? The Rams are allowing about 16.6 points per game to opposing QBs depending on your scoring, and Campbell also has the added benefit of being able to scramble. $9,910/$15,555 $7,530/$10,000
RB1 – Darren McFadden Bush is again unlikely, and last week Run-DMC finally showed his true potential as a featured NFL back. The Rams rush D should allow for great numbers for McFadden. $12,444/$14,298 $7,260/$12,000
RB2 – Brandon Jackson Throw him in! In his 1st week as the starter, Jackson should get a lot of work against a Bills Defense that guards the pass well, but gives up the 3rd most fantasy points to RBs in the NFL. $9,496/$14,298 $3,610/$10,000
RB3 – Ahmad Bradshaw There are some reasons highlighted in this forum post. $11,922/$14,298 $7,000/$10,000
WR1 – Eddie Royal Despite the 49ers six-point performance last week, the Seahawks pass defense is capable of giving up a lot of points. I’m not buying the Pete Carrol show quite yet, though I am rooting for him to do well in the NFL. If you have cap-room in either direction, both Gaffney and Floyd could be smart selections as well. $8,147/$13,032 $5,100/$10,000
WR2 – Mohamed Massaquoi Seneca Wallace has experience playing QB in the NFL, and shouldn’t be a huge drop-off this week against a weak Chief’s pass defense. KC have been giving up 33+ fantasy points to opposing WRs and TEs through the air. $4,734/$13,032 $5,680/$10,000
WR3 – Dexter McCluster Last week, the stud SEC running back showed what he is capable of while coming into the game questionable with the Flu. This week he gets the Cleveland Browns, and while he didn’t get a ton of offensive targets last week, I expect him to be much more heavily involved this week. $622/$13,032 $2,160/$10,000
TE1 – Chris Cooley Cooley proved he is back last week. This week he still has McNabb and very little competition for catches, but he also gets the Texan’s defense; stout against the run and torchable through the air. $8,717/$11,825 $5,260/$9,000
D/ST – Carolina Panthers This defense is slept on for its fantasy productivity. They are capable of both shutting teams down and creating turnovers; this week they get the Bucs young and inexperienced offense that is only capable of one of the previous. $3,275/$6,549 For DZ, we’d go with the Eagles – Priced at only $5,010/$8,000
