Weather Report and Forecast for NFL Week 2
After the first week of the season brought us multiple lightning delays and some wet games, things look a bit quieter for Week 2.
This NFL weather report will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and, most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week. If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.
NFL Week 2 Weather Report and Forecast
As always, it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter/X @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my main weather page.
A reminder that while temperature and rain/snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high wind, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.
Thursday Night Football, September 11th
Washington Commanders @ Green Bay Packers – Great game, great weather. Mild temps, light winds, and no precip.
Sunday Main Slate, September 14th
New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins – The best chance of seeing any rain or storms, as we’ll see a few pop-up thunderstorms in South Florida on Sunday afternoon. You can’t really pinpoint this kind of activity, and whether they end up over the stadium or just near the stadium is something that we won’t know until we can see pregame radar (and maybe not even by then).
Philadelphia Eagles @ Kansas City Chiefs – Steamy, with temperatures in the 90s. Also a slight breeze, around 10 mph, but while this is the windiest game of the week, I don’t expect the 10-mph wind will have any real impact on the game. Generally, we need to see winds at 15-20 mph sustained to start seeing those impacts.
Sunday Night Football
Atlanta Falcons @ Minnesota Vikings – Indoors, no issues.
Monday Night Football, September 15th
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Houston Texans – Indoors, no issues.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Las Vegas Raiders – Indoors, no issues.
Weather Impact on Fantasy & Betting
Pretty quiet week for NFL weather. The only game that has even mild interest is in Miami for the NE/MIA game, but as it currently looks, I don’t think it’s anything worth making adjustments for your fantasy football lineups or bets. We’ll see how radar looks pregame.
In case things change, I’ll be posting radar GIFs to Twitter as we get closer to kickoff.
