NFL Week 4: A Valuable Lineup
NFL Week 4: A Valuable Lineup

How to Read the Table: Each week we will give you our most ‘Valuable Lineup’. These are our top-picks while factoring in the cost of that player at a certain site or sites. The first number listed for each player and under each site is how much it will cost you to acquire that player for your lineup for that specific site, and the second number (after the forward slash) is the max cost for a player of the same position on that same site. While we definitely recommend this lineup for the week, you can almost always create a more optimal lineup depending on the site you use and their salary structure. To do that, make sure to hone your skills by playing as much as possible and discussing strategy in our forums.
Week 3 Site
- Fantasy Factor – This week we are going to mix it up and throw salary out the window! I love Fantasy Factor, because aside from everything else it is so quick and easy to set your lineups. The software is smooth, it’s intuitive, and you don’t have to perform algorithms for days to get an edge at your flex-spot. That doesn’t mean there is no strategy, but sometimes you would just prefer to choose the sleeper picks yourself as opposed to a salary system. As previously posted, Fantasy Factor has been kind enough to host a RotoGrinders.com NFL Freeroll – each and every week. The freeroll pays out the equivalent of $112.50 with right about $50.00 going to first place.1
Since this is an unlimited entry (large-field) contest, there is still plenty of strategy involved, even without a salary cap. Factor’s roster is relatively large:
| Roster Slots | QB | RB | RB | WR | WR | WR | WR | TE | K | D/ST |
|---|
With four receivers and PPR scoring, your WR choices become crucial to your success. In addition, Fantasy Factor uses one 3x ‘Factor’ and 2x ‘Factors’ for you to give to who you think are your top three scoring players. To separate yourself from the pack in a large-field entry like this it is important to select some sleeper picks. Assigning your factors are also extremely important; imaging getting 3x the points from Jahvid Best week 2…
With that said, here is an example lineup that I would set in a large field, non-salary setting such as this. If you need a reference to player rankings for the week, you can check out my Week 4 list here
A Valuable Lineup – NFL Week 4
| Position | Notes | Factor |
|---|---|---|
| QB – Bruce Gradkowski | Gradkowsi is leading the NFL in yards per completion right now, and gets a matchup against the Houston pass defense, which is giving up the most passing yards in the league. Not only do I think he will put up great numbers, but in a format where you can only choose 1 QB, I think Gradkowski will be overlooked by many entries, giving you an edge on the large field. | – |
| RB1 – Arian Foster | Through 3 weeks, looks like an elite RB. He leads the NFL in yards, had 3 TDs, and 69 carries. Match this up with Oakland’s swiss cheese Run Defenese and you get my #1 RB pick, and #1 overall player for the week. | 3X |
| RB2 Justin Forsett | Last week he finally got starters touches (17), and this week he gets St. Louis’ horrid rush D. He has the ability to break huge plays, and he can catch passes. In a PPR format vs. a large-field, he is a perfect sleeper candidate to get you sneaky points. | |
| WR1 – Reggie Wayne | You, right after finishing reading this article, could go out and get open for a catch against the Jacksonville secondary with Peyton Manning tossing you the rock. You can’t ignore this play. | 2x |
| WR2 – Brandon Marshall | Marshall has a real opportunity to anger Denver fans this weekend. New England’s defense (especially it’s Pass D) is far removed from the 2007 season. In a close game, or play-from-behind situation Marshall is poised for his first huge game as a Dolphin. | 2x |
| WR3 – Mark Clayton | The Seahawks are giving up almost 40 fantasy points per game through the air this season, in non-ppr formats. Clayton had 10 catches in his first game with the rams. This play has the same upside as an elite WR, with less recognition. | - |
| WR4 – Malcom Floyd | The last 2 weeks, Floyd has filled the void of V-Jax the way the Chargers were hoping he would. He is another sneaky play that should put up WR1 numbers this week. | - |
| TE – Jermichael Finley | You can’t go wrong with Gates, Finely or Clark this week, and Zach Miller is an excellent value play, but Finley has the best chance at a monster day. He already leads the NFL in passing yards for TEs, but he doesn’t have any touchdowns yet. That will change. TDs are high-variance and the Lions Pass-D is exploitable with a 6-5, 247 lb., 4.6-40 Wide Receiverrr…Tight End. | - |
| Kicker – Jeff Reed | This defensive battle is sure to be won between the 20 yard lines. This is the perfect combination of teams for a FG kicker to have a massive day. | - |
| D/ST – New York Jets | They are low on Fantasy Factor’s rankings, so they might be overlooked in this helpless matchup vs. the Buffalo Bills | - |
