Wild Card Weekend Weather Report and Forecast for NFL

Rams WR Nacua

We’re on to the playoffs, and as a special bonus for us all, every single game of Wild Card Weekend is outdoors with no roof. Long live old-school football!

This NFL weather report will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week. If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.

NFL Wild Card Weekend Weather Report and Forecast

As always, it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter/X @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my main weather page. A reminder that while temperature and rain/snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high wind, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.

Saturday, January 10th

LA Rams @ Carolina Panthers – This is our best chance of seeing rain during Wild Card Weekend. I’ve got rain chances at roughly 70% during the game, and I think we could see enough rain here to impact passing efficiency and increase turnovers. Winds will be around 10-15 mph sustained, gusting to 20 mph. It’s likely our most impactful game of the weekend.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears – Another “weather game,” this one is more about the cold, snow, and wind. Temperatures will be around freezing, and snow showers are possible at any point in the game. A burst of heavier snow or two isn’t out of the question, though I don’t expect we’re talking significant accumulations here. Winds are noteworthy as well, blowing around 15 mph sustained and gusting to 30 mph.

Sunday, January 11th

Buffalo Bills @ Jacksonville Jaguars – Mild temps, winds at 10 mph, and a very low chance of a passing shower. No real issues.

San Francisco 49ers @ Philadelphia Eagles – Winds running 10-15 mph, gusts pushing 25 mph. That’s maybe worth noting, but it isn’t overly impactful. The temp should come in around 40 degrees, and rain chances are slim.

LA Chargers @ New England Patriots – Chilly with temps in the 30s, but otherwise fine. There’s also a non-zero chance of a rain shower, but it’s pretty close to zero, and I wouldn’t worry about it.

Monday, January 12th

Houston Texans @ Pittsburgh Steelers – Temperature around freezing with a 10 mph wind. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely good enough to not have any significant impact.

How Will the Weather on Wild Card Weekend Affect Betting & Fantasy Football Picks?

The two Saturday games (Carolina and Chicago) are the only real issues. I think the Carolina game is the most interesting; with rain looking likely, that could lead to a lower-scoring affair, though we’ll want to see radar pregame to make sure it will indeed rain. The Chicago game is just a slight bump down to kickers and is likely fine for the rest.

In case things change, I’ll be posting radar GIFs to Twitter/X as we get closer to kickoff.
