Happy Friday everyone!

If you read my article yesterday and played daily fantasy hockey last night, it certainly is a happy and profitable Friday. It has been a fantastic start to the season and hopefully we can stay hot tonight.

We slow down a little tonight, with only five games and 10 teams in action. Friday nights are generally quiet nights in the NHL for the most part, so we are happy to play a five-game slate this evening. Ok, enough talking, let’s get to the Daily Picks!

GOALTENDER

Make sure to check the RotoGrinders Starting Goalies Page to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting prior to game time.

Frederik Andersen, Anaheim Ducks – Andersen returns to the net tonight after missing some time due to a lower body injury. Andersen has been outstanding this season (1.60 GAA, .941 SV%) and the Ducks are a huge home favorite. Arizona has notoriously struggled on the road and the trend has continued this year (1-4-1). Look for a big game from Andersen tonight and the all important win.

jimmy-howard-300x200

Jimmy Howard, Detroit Red Wings – The Devils are a banged up group and are playing in back-to-back road games. New Jersey is not a strong offensive team and I don’t see them lighting up the score sheet tonight in Joe Louis arena. Howard has been very good this season (1.96 GAA, .928 SV%) and I expect him to not only walk away with a win, but possibly a shutout.

Other Goalies To Target (Cash Games) – Corey Crawford

Other Goalies To Target (Tournaments) – Cam Ward, Jhonas Enroth, Anton Forsberg

CENTER

ryan-getzlaf-300x200

Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks – Getzlaf missed Wednesday night’s game against the New York Islanders along with Corey Perry due to the flu, but should be good to go tonight. Getzlaf had a multi-point effort in his last game versus Colorado and now has 14 points in 13 games this season. The Ducks are a very strong team at home and I expect Getzlaf to have another multi-point night.

Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings – Datsyuk has seven points in his last five games and is one the most consistent scorers in the game. The Devils will be a tired group and will likely give Corey Schneider a well deserved rest after playing in every game this season. Datysuk and Zetterberg are a fun combo to watch, as they are both elite talents, with amazing chemistry. Look for a multi-point game form Datsyuk tonight.

Other Centers To Target (Cash Games) – Jonathan Toews, Ryan Johansen, Nicklas Backstrom

Other Centers To Target (Tournaments) – Eric Staal, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Tyler Ennis

WING

corey-perry-300x200

Corey Perry, Anaheim Ducks – If you are paying up for any stud tonight, Corey Perry should be that guy. Perry leads the league with eleven goals and also has forty two shots on goal and twenty five minutes in penalties through thirteen games this season. Mike Smith has been awful this season (3.63 GAA, .880 SV%) and I expect Perry to snipe a goal or two tonight.

Justin Abdelkader, Detroit Red Wings – Abdelkader will be playing with studs Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg tonight. Despite the return of Johan Franzen, Abdelkader is still seeing minutes on the Red Wings top powerplay unit. Abdelkader is in a great spot to produce tonight and makes a tremendous value play.

Jiri Tlusty, Carolina Hurricanes – Tlusty left Tuesday’s tilt against the Blue Jackets due to a concussion, but it appears he will be back in the lineup tonight. Columbus’ has been a mess in net since Sergei Bobrovsky went down with an injury and the Hurricanes are playing much better hockey. Tlusty will play on Carolina’s top line with Eric Staal and Alexander Semin tonight. This line has been very productive when together and I think Tlusty makes a great value play tonight.

Other Wingers To Target (Cash Games) – Alexander Ovechkin, Henrik Zetterberg, Patrick Kane, Johan Franzen, Gustav Nyquist, Scott Hartnell

Other Wingers To Target (Tournaments) – Alexander Semin, Jordan Eberle, Cam Atkinson, Brandon Saad, Patrick Maroon, Benoit Pouliot

DEFENSE

niklas-kronwall-300x200

Niklas Kronwall, Detroit Red Wings – We continue to pick on a New Jersey squad that is playing in consecutive road games. Tired teams tend to take penalties and the powerplay is where Kronwall is at his best. The Devils have the worst penalty kill in the NHL and I think the Red Wings can score a couple of powerplay markers tonight.

Other Defensemen To Target (Cash Games) – Duncan Keith, Sami Vatanen, Cam Fowler

Other Defensemen To Target (Tournaments) – James Wisniewski, Justin Faulk, Justin Schultz
