NHL Daily Plays: Monday, October 27th

If you plan on playing daily fantasy hockey tonight, you truly are a diehard. With only two games (NYR/MIN and MON/EDM) on the docket, it is a quiet night in the NHL. But hey, if we are going to watch the games, we might as well have something invested.

GPPs will be interesting, as you may have to look beyond the top lines to separate yourself from the pack. However, in your cash games there is a lot less room for error with only four teams in action. Locking up a win from your goalie tonight will be crucial.

GOALTENDER

Editor’s Note: Dustin Tokarski has been confirmed as the starter for Montreal. Do not use Price.

Carey Price – Price has been very good in his last three games, and he was outstanding Saturday night, stopping 34-of-35 shots in their win over the Rangers. The Montreal Canadiens are the biggest favorite on the board tonight and I think they cruise to a victory over the Oilers.

Other Goalies To Target (Cash Games) – Darcy Kuemper

Other Goalies To Target (Tournaments) – Henrik Lundqvist, Ben Scrivens

CENTER

David Desharnais – The Edmonton Oilers have had a lot of issues keeping the puck out of their net and have now allowed 32 goals in their first eight contests. The Habs’ top line can be very potent and they have a fantastic matchup this evening. Look for a multi-point game from Desharnais.

Other Centers To Target (Cash Games) – Mikael Granlund, Mikko Koivu, Tomas Plekanec

Other Centers To Target (Tournaments) – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Alex Galchenyuk, Kevin Hayes

WING

Zach Parise – Parise is playing great hockey to start the year (3 G, 4 A, 7 PTS, +8, 36 SOG in 6 GP) and is one of the most consistent players in daily fantasy hockey. He contributes across the board offensively and is a great play tonight in all game formats.

rick-nash-300x200

Rick Nash – Nash has been on fire to start the year. He has eight goals in eight games this season and he continues to produce positive points on a nightly basis. Nash seems to have that edge back and he is shooting a lot more (26 SOG), which has resulted in good things. Despite the tough matchup against the Wild, I expect Nash to keep rolling tonight.

Other Wingers To Target (Cash Games) – Max Pacioretty, Jason Pominville, Brendan Gallagher, P.A. Parenteau

Other Wingers To Target (Tournaments) – Taylor Hall, Thomas Vanek, Chris Kreider, Jordan Eberle, Martin St. Louis, Charlie Coyle

DEFENSE

P.K. Subban – Subban is off to a solid start (3 G, 3 A, 6 PTS, 21 SOG in 8 GP) and is easily the top defensemen playing tonight. Subban is one of the few defensemen you can count on in both your cash games and your GPPs game in and game out. Very few can match Subban’s upside,so I suggest you find a way to roster him tonight versus an awful Oilers squad.

Other Defensemen To Target (Cash Games) – Ryan Suter, Andrei Markov

Other Defensemen To Target (Tournaments) – Ryan McDonagh, Justin Schultz
