What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Moneyball16: Large-field GPPs – The main slate start time being 2 hours earlier than normal means that we have an abnormal 9 of 11 games that start past the beginning of the slate. This is not the night to set a lineup and forget it. You’ll want to be in the RotoGrinders NHL Discord. I am probably going to get pretty contrarian when it comes to goalie. Goalie is notoriously hard to predict, none of the options stand out too much for me, and it is way too early in the season to be chasing these early season hot streaks.

TastefulTides: Single-entry and 3-max contests are my preferred format. We have a couple of injuries to monitor, but it looks like Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh are going to be my favorite teams to stack. The Ducks have allowed the 11th-most goals in the NHL and have played 1 fewer game than the NHL average so far this season. The Blue Jackets seem to have improved defensively from last season, but they will have the rest disadvantage.

Hunter4ever89: Single-entry and 5-max contests are my preferred formats today. Watching for injury news and updates will be important with the earlier slate lock. The spread-out game times will make this tough, but I like the edge to be had with late news. Be sure to keep an eye on Discord for updates. I will look to use late swap to my advantage and find some extra value to fit in the Tampa Bay top line as much as possible.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
