NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Thursday, October 10

Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?

TastefulTides: David Pastrnak
boggslite: David Pastrnak
Joda: David Pastrnak

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

TastefulTides: Single-entry and small-field GPPs are my preferred tournament format. DK has once again fumbled pricing. There are several min-priced players who make it incredibly easy to fit in expensive stacks or expensive one-offs. I don’t mind being overweight on the chalky min-priced defensemen, but I will be getting different at goalie and try to get different with my stacks. I think another way of having a contrarian build is to make two 3-man line stacks that are more in the mid-range in terms of salary. For example, DET1 paired with NYI1.

boggslite: I prefer large-field tournaments this early in the season, where we are waiting to see how teams are matching up and how the chemistry evolves from new players added to teams in regular season play. There are some obvious spots to target, with Boston and Minnesota drawing great matchups, but with so much value to take advantage of due to some key misprices, it opens the slate to get different in a myriad of ways.

Joda: Large-field tournaments are preferred tonight. There are a number of minimum-priced defensemen (e.g., Jared Spurgeon, Erik Gustafsson, Brandt Clarke) who can be played together or rotated to build strong lineups around them. I think the best way to get different is at goalie. Yesterday, we saw Sam Montembeault record a 48-save shutout at minuscule ownership.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
