NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Thursday, October 17
Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?
TastefulTides: Connor Bedard
boggslite: Connor Bedard
Joda: Connor Bedard
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
TastefulTides: Single-entry and small-field GPPs are my preferred tournament format. There are some very inexpensive stacks and goalies in really great matchups. Chicago looks to be the early chalk, and while I will look to get to them in cash games, I think their ceiling/ownership combination might be a little shaky for GPPs. I like the idea of going to two fully correlated lines on one team. For example, BUF1 with NYR1.

boggslite: I prefer large-field tournaments, especially early in the season when we don’t have a larger sample of data to work with. Despite there being some obvious matchups to exploit tonight, going contrarian could pay off in a big way in tournaments. Big 11-game slates tend to spread out ownership, so I’m not going to get too crazy. With goaltender selection looking difficult, paying up to be different might be the key.
Joda: Single-entry and small-field GPPs – Due to pricing, matchup, and full correlation at even-strength and on the power play, we can expect significant ownership on the Blackhawks in this format. However, it’s important to keep in mind that while there are some new pieces on the team, Chicago scored the fewest goals (2.17 GF/GP) in the NHL last season. Fading Bedard and his crew in single-entry tournaments is an immediate way to start building differently from a chunk of the field.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
