NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Thursday, October 31

Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?

TastefulTides: Auston Matthews
boggslite: Sidney Crosby
Joda: Auston Matthews

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

TastefulTides: Single-entry and small-field tournaments are my preferred GPP formats. I know it’s chalky, but I really like the Penguins on this slate. They shuffled their bottom three lines but kept the Rakell/Crosby/Malkin line intact. You can, of course, include Kris Letang to achieve even more correlation at a very affordable price tag.

boggslite: I’m playing large-field GPPs, where there are plenty of ways to differentiate and fade the chalk. Pittsburgh’s top line will likely be a tough fade at their reasonable prices, but I think there are other matchups to exploit that offer higher ceilings. Washington, Toronto, Nashville, and Chicago present interesting pivots. I will take advantage of the value available at various positions and monitor pOWN% as we get closer to lock.

Joda: Large-field GPPs are my preferred format this evening. The Penguins’ top line, their only relevant line for that matter, is a scary fade, and I’ll be overweight on them while finding ways to differentiate. I expect a high-event game as the Penguins are allowing the most shots against per game (35.5/GP), and Anaheim is right behind them (34.7/GP). Shot volume for the Malkin/Crosby/Rakell line in this matchup gives them a strong floor, and if Lukas Dostal finally comes crashing down, Pittsburgh will be at the top of tournaments.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
