What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Moneyball16: Large-field GPPs – One strategy I like is to play Ilya Sorokin and some Islanders forwards as a stack against a strong Carolina team. Carolina should have high shot volume, so if Sorokin can pull out the win with some goal support, he should put up a strong score. Mathew Barzal would be the top choice as someone who is way too cheap despite the bad matchup. In these lineups, I would prefer to lean away from the three 7:00 p.m. ET games because NYI/CAR starts at 7:30 p.m. ET, and there is uncertainty with the Islanders lineup, so I want to be able to pivot based on lines with maximum flexibility. Also, defensemen block a ton of shots vs. Carolina, so the Islanders defensemen have a nice block floor with some upside to get the block bonus or pick up an assist on top of that.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – There are plenty of ways to attack this 10-game slate. Ownership outside of Tampa Bay and Winnipeg should be relatively spread out. I prefer targeting Tampa’s top line in a game that should play at a faster pace than Winnipeg. I also will get some exposure to other teams in GPPs like New Jersey, Carolina, and the BUF/MTL game, as those teams have solid potential in their respective matchups. I will also look for some savings at goalie, as I don’t love the save potential from any of the expensive netminders.
Joda: Large-field tournaments are my preferred format tonight. Despite there being 10 games on this slate, outside of Tampa Bay, there is not a real slate-breaking stack that we typically see when the Avalanche or Oilers are playing. I think we’ll see lower scores than usual, so building more balanced rosters with value pieces could be a path to success.
