What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Moneyball16: I’ll play large-field tournaments. I think with only 3 games and it being the unofficial opening day with more opponents who are inexperienced in NHL DFS, I think the chalk will be a little chalkier than normal, so I will be overexposed to the players on those team who are projecting for lower ownership. On a 3-game slate, an unexpected game result can have a huge impact on which DFS lineups are successful.

boggslite: Large-field tournaments. I plan to go overweight on Utah where they will open their season at home with plenty of buzz in a great matchup. We saw it with Vegas and most recently in Seattle that a franchise in a new city can bring out the best from their players in their first season, and Utah was an up-and-coming offensive team last year when they were in Arizona. I’ll also be under the field in the BOS/FLA game, not necessarily because of the “cup hangover” effect but because both teams are strong defensively.

Joda: Large-field tournaments are the way to go. Utah players should dominate optimal lineups, but there are plenty of paths to a ceiling in the other 2 games. We do not know what we will get from Joonas Korpisalo, who is coming off a terrible season with Ottawa, which makes the defending champions an interesting target. STL/SEA figures to be a game with low shot volume, but there are some players like Jordan Kyrou and Jared McCann who have multi-goal upside.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
