Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Moneyball16: Matthew Tkachuk – He had 40 goals+ in each of his last 2 seasons, and he is going to have a goal explosion one of these days. He’s shooting the puck as much as ever, but it’s just not going in like it should, with a shooting% 1/3 that of his career number. At home vs an Edmonton team that has allowed a ton of goals, who are starting their 3rd goalie this season, is a good matchup too.

ezellmt: Carter Verhaeghe – His DK price should be much closer to Reinhart’s given their similar roles, but Reinhart is still listed at $1700 more expensive. He has 13 points in his last 7 games. Florida has an implied team total of 3.7 goals, and if they get even close to it, there’s a good chance Verhaeghe finds the scoresheet at least once.

Joda: Carter Verhaeghe – There are plenty of superstars available tonight at the top, so we will stick in the mid-range with Verhaeghe. Carter has hit 3+ SOG in 13 of his last 14 games and draws a great matchup against an Edmonton team that has struggled mightily in net. With Barkov out, Verhaeghe will be back on the top power-play unit.

Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Moneyball16: Anthony Duclair – He is on the worst team in the league and is having a rough season, but he is playing a career-high in minutes and has been horribly unlucky this season. At even-strength, he has an on-ice shooting% of just 2.6%, compared to a career 9.6%. Also, while his shot rate is down, his shot attempt rate is fairly similar to recent seasons. At only $3,600 on DK, he can pay off pretty easily with just a little good luck.

ezellmt: Tomas Hertl – With everyone on the Canucks side of this game, pivoting to Hertl (especially if your early players don’t perform) makes a lot of sense. Hertl should see 20+ minutes and has a green light to shoot the puck whenever he touches it.

Joda: Evander Kane – Tonight’s matchup in Sunrise, Florida looks great for goals as the Panthers will be without their best defensive center. Kane does not play on the top power-play unit, but he has 15 SOG over his last three games and has flashed his ceiling multiple times already this season.

What’s your hot take of the slate?

Moneyball16: Mulitple points for Kevin Fiala.

ezellmt: Vancouver scores four goals, but the scoring is spread out, and they don’t make the GPP-winning rosters on DK.

Joda: Edmonton and Florida combine for 12+ goals
