NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, December 16

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Moneyball16: Nico Hischier – For his price ($4,700), and matchup (Columbus), he is much too good. He is back to a point per game, returning to his excellent two-way game since coming back from injury.

TastefulTides: Auston Matthews – All of the big names that we want to play on a daily basis are on tonight’s slate. It’s pretty difficult to choose one with absolute confidence. Matthews on home ice seems like the one with best floor and ceiling combination. He has been on an absolute tear as of late, scoring at least 24 DK points in 4 straight games, and 35 plus in each of his last two. Pittsburgh has had some good goaltending this year, but I think some regression is due.

Joda: Jack Hughes – Jack continues to fire shots, and unless Columbus blocks a million shots again (39 against Toronto last time out), Jack should be quite successful. I expect big things for Hughes and the Devils tonight.

Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
