NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, February 24

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Moneyball16: Roman Josi – Josi and Forsberg are two of the better plays on the slate, with a great matchup versus maybe the worst team in the league in San Jose. They’re both in the low $7,000s on DK, and for an F/D combo, they play together a lot at even strength as well as obviously the power play. Josi is probably the slightly better play due to his value and high-end positional scarcity.

TastefulTides: Nathan MacKinnon – His season average for DK fantasy points is just north of 20. In his last 3 games he has combined for 30 shots on goal and has recorded the 5-shot bonus in 5 straight games. I can’t possibly consider fading him on home ice. While the Maple Leafs are a great team, they have a bottom-third penalty kill. MacKinnon is going to be very hard to keep off the scoresheet, and I would try and get overweight in GPPs.

Joda: Kevin Fiala – Anaheim is averaging an absurd 5.47 penalties taken per 60 minutes, so as usual, we want to target against them while shorthanded. Kevin Fiala has an attractive price, and while we have not seen his ceiling in a while, he does have a goal in each of his past 2 games. Furthermore, a case can be made for a number of the expensive superstars (MacKinnon, Matthews, and McDavid), so Fiala is a nice starting point for rosters.

Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
