NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, January 13

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Moneyball16: Steven Stamkos – Stamkos has been playing with Kucherov and Point lately, which has led to a few more minutes, and Anaheim is a tremendous matchup for him because they take so many penalties. Stamkos is an outlier when it comes to forwards that are reliant on the power play to put up numbers. He is averaging 23 shots per 60 minutes on the power play this season compared to 6.3 at even strength, and most of his points this season have been on the power play.

TastefulTides: Nikita Kucherov – There are plenty of great options on this massive 12-game slate. Kucherov leads the league in points, ranking 3rd overall in goals and 2nd overall in assists. He is the absolute perfect player for DFS. He is an elite shooter and passer of the puck. The Ducks are a bottom-half defensive team and are really going to struggle on the road trying to contain this Lightning team.

Joda: Nikita Kucherov – Anaheim takes far too many penalties, so Kucherov and the Lightning should have their way with the Ducks in all situations. A 3-point night looks highly probable for the Russian superstar.

Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
