NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, January 25
Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
TastefulTides: David Pastrnak – The lion’s share of the ownership is most likely going to flow to Edmonton and Dallas. I think any stack that fades those two teams will be fairly contrarian. Pastrnak should be low-owned enough that you can absolutely use him as a one-off. The Senators allow the 3rd-most goals per game and have the 4th-worst penalty kill in all of hockey. The Bruins score the 6th-most goals per game and have the 5th-best power play. Despite this being a back-to-back for Boston, I think they can put a big number against this terrible Ottawa team.
ezellmt: David Pastrnak – It’s rare that we could see Pastrnak’s ownership in the single digits, especially on a slate with less than 10 games. The matchup, while not as favorable as a few others like McDavid, isn’t one to be afraid of, as the Senators’ goaltending has been a disaster all season. They have allowed the 3rd-most goals per game in the NHL this year.
boggslite: Mathew Barzal – He leads the Islanders with 48 points this season and will look to improve upon those numbers tonight against a Montreal team that has allowed 19 goals over their last three games. In what should be an exciting game between two poor defensive teams, Barzal should have no problems paying off his price tag tonight.
