NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, January 24
Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
TastefulTides: Kyle Connor – It hasn’t been his best season, but he has battled a couple of injuries and is still averaging a point per game. This is purely an ownership play. If it looks like he and his linemates are going to get steamed, I will change my answer, but I don’t think that will be the case. Winnipeg changed up their lines at morning skate today. I love getting to a two-man stack of both Connors and Ehlers, and of course, you can complete the stack with Vladislav Namestnikov in large-field GPPs. Samsonov has been one of the worst goalies in all of hockey thus far and getting a chance to stack against him at low ownership feels like a optimal choice tonight.
boggslite: Auston Matthews – He’s never a “contrarian” play, but on tonight’s 7-game slate, I do expect his ownership to come in lower than it should be. Winnipeg sits atop of their division and has outperformed expectations this season, but they haven’t faced many good teams over the past few weeks and will be starting their backup goalie tonight, making Matthews an elite option to target.
Joda: Elias Pettersson – After the Canucks’ top line had a free skate against Chicago the other night, I do not expect them to get much attention tonight. The Blues had a hard-fought win last night in Calgary and could have a letdown here tonight with tired legs. Pettersson has a high ceiling on a nightly basis.
