Who is your favorite contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) and why?
Moneyball16: Evgeni Malkin – Florida is an underrated matchup here, having played last night, and generally not being a great defensive team. On top of that, Malkin is a great powerplay weapon and the Panthers are the least disciplined team in the league. They spend 18% more time in the penalty box than the average team.
ezellmt: Jordan Kyrou – No one is going to want to play someone like Kyrou who is priced up with other studs, which should lead to low ownership. The Sabres will be on the second of a back-to-back and Kyrou should be able to use his speed to take advantage of tired legs.
boggslite: Patrick Kane – He isn’t scoring like we are used to seeing, but he’s still logging heavy ice time and draws a great matchup against a VAN team that is a mess defensively and ranks dead last in PK% this season.
Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Moneyball16: David Pastrnak – Montreal is awful. This specific Montreal team is even worse because of injuries. Pastrnak has been consistently great this season with a long track record of elite play.
ezellmt: Nathan MacKinnon – MacKinnon doesn’t have a goal in his last three games, despite a ridiculous 20 SOG during that span. Still, he has 12 points in his last 6 games despite being held scoreless in his last outing. He’ll be facing off against one of the all-time greats in Ovechkin, so motivation might be a tad higher than your average Tuesday night.
boggslite: Nathan MacKinnon – Entering tonight’s game with 17 points and a whopping 63 SOG over his last ten games, MacKinnon continues to produce on a nightly basis. WSH isn’t a team we typically like to pick on, but I expect the Avs to dictate the pace in this game on home ice making MacKinnon a solid option to pay up for.
What’s your hot take of the night?
Moneyball16: Quinn Hughes gets the three point bonus.
ezellmt: The Blues power play scores three times and wins someone a GPP.
boggslite: CHI/VAN combine for 8+ goals.
