Today’s Games

Slate Overview

Are you ready to be sad? Because this is the last Slate Summary for about ten days. There are between one and three games for the next several days and then the All-Star Break next week. In all seriousness, the break should be good for us DFS players (and content providers), as the season can be a grind and mentally exhausting. So take the time away to recharge the batteries and maybe pick up a new hobby? But that can start next week. As for tonight…

We have an excellent grand finale with 10 games on the docket. [In the form of the Hayden Christiansen and Natalie Portman meme]: So because there’s a ton of games and it’s the last slate in a while, the DraftKings contests are huge, right? (SILENCE) The DraftKings contests are huge, right? [End meme] No, they are not huge. NFL is king and was apparently enough to nuke the contests.

As for the games, there are a ton of huge favorites. The Hurricanes, Penguins, Wild, Canucks, and Flames are all -200 or better. There are also some other teams in great spots, including the Lightning and both teams in the Panthers-Islanders (imo). Due to all of the quality options and total number of teams, I expect ownership to be fairly spread out tonight.

Top Skaters

Nikita Kucherov
DraftKings $9,900

I mentioned the other night you could argue that Kucherov was a higher priority than even McDavid. That turned out fine at first, as Kucherov finished with a monster game and picked up both offensive bonuses on DK. Then McDavid laughed in his face with a hat trick. Tonight, Kucherov stands alone and above Matthews thanks to a more favorable matchup (Devils) than Matthews (Jets). His point prop is over 1.5 juiced to -145, which tells you everything you need to know about his prospects tonight. He’ll be highly owned, but I think at $10,000, ownership won’t be out of control.
