Slate Overview
We have nine games in store for us, which is slightly less than the usual 10 to 12, but I find it much more manageable both from a content and lineup-building standpoint. On DK, there’s a Live Final Qualifer running at $432, which happens to first one I’ve entered this year (won a ticket). There are two heavy favorites in the Stars and Panthers, both of whom should garner significant ownership. Deciding what to do in those instances will go a long way in determining your profitability on this slate. While those two teams are the only ones with 4.0+ implied team totals, there are plenty of viable pivots with TTs of 3.5 or higher including the Penguins, Preds, Bruins, Flames, Jets, and Lightning. There isn’t much injury news to monitor and all but one of the goalies (Arizona) have essentially been confirmed already. That should lead to a more relaxing night, although as always, hang out in the Discord for any late breaking news. Let’s get into it.
Top Skaters
Aleksander Barkov
DraftKings $6,900
No one has ever doubted Aleksander Barkov real life contributions on the ice. He’s an excellent two-way center and regarded as just outside the elite tier consisting of McDavid, Matthews, and MacKinnon. But for fantasy purposes, his value doesn’t always translate quite as well. He’s still been good, but he doesn’t put up quite the numbers as others, especially in the shots category. He has a good shot, he just doesn’t always unleash it. Lately, it appears he has gotten the memo that he should be shooting more. He has 4+ SOG in five of his last six games after hitting that number just once in his first seven games. Tonight, it’s a dream matchup against the lowly Sharks. He’ll be popular, but other than ownership there aren’t many good reasons to fade.
