Which useful trend or statistic stuck out most during your research?
Pepsi7: The Montreal Canadiens have been a surprise team thus far (5-2-2 record), but they have struggled to kill penalties, ranking 22nd overall. The Boston Bruins on the other hand own the National Hockey League’s fourth-best power play.
Donkshow: The Winnipeg Jets are playing the tail end of a back to back and their third game in four nights. A tired Jets team is likely to come out flat against the high-flying Maple Leafs. This should also result in plenty of Leafs goals. Load them up!
Joda: The Chicago Blackhawks are allowing the second-most high danger chances per 60 minutes at 5v5. Good goaltending from Corey Crawford continues to cover up their defensive mediocrity.
What’s your hot take of the night?
Pepsi7: Boston scores five or more goals, including three on the power play
Donkshow: Tampa Bay gets shut out by the Coyotes.
Joda: Nino Niederreiter has a multi-point night
Who is your top overall play and why?
Pepsi7: Bos1 – There is not really one matchup or player that stands tall tonight in my opinion, but the one thing we can count on is the Boston Bruins top line producing yet again. In four home games this season, the Bruins number one line has combined for 11 goals and 23 points.
Donkshow: Evgeni Malkin – he’s been an absolute beast this season with 15 points in 8 games. Despite being on the road, they have a great matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. Pittsburgh is a -210 favourite and with a 6.0 O/U I expect the Pens to score at least 4.
Joda: Vladimir Tarasenko – This is more about his price point than anything as he offers significant savings from some of the top superstars available on this slate like Auston Matthews, Evgeni Malkin and David Pastrnak. After the Blues’ dire performance against the Blue Jackets last time out, Tarasenko called out the team. Tarasenko has blasted the Blackhawks in his career with 26 points (16G, 10A) in 25 games.
