Notorious' NFL DFS Core Plays: Week 1

It’s hard to believe the NFL is already back, but I am all for it. For the first time in my life, every major sport is going on at the same time. While I wouldn’t want to go through that brutal three-month stretch without sports again, I will certainly be taking advantage of the overlap now. In an effort to provide premium members as much value as possible this season, I will be available to answer any and all questions. If you are reading this, then you already have access to the premium Discord channels. There are no dumb questions, so feel free to ping me in one of the channels or send me a direct message on Discord.

The Core Plays article will be ever-evolving, but will focus on my favorite plays for each main slate. These plays can be used in all formats and are typically some of the best point-per-dollar options of the week. More often than not, these plays will garner quite a bit of ownership. The common misnomer is that we can’t play chalk in tournaments, but that’s far from the truth. Almost every winning lineup in NFL DFS has chalk in it and oftentimes, quite a bit of it. The key is to create correlation and/or leverage in each lineup. In other words, the core plays can be used in both cash games and tournaments.

While the core plays should provide a ton of value, one of my favorite parts of DFS is finding the plays that are flying under the radar each week. I tried to do an additional positional breakdown last season, but it felt like I was just rambling off a bunch of names and didn’t really narrow down the list of players that I was targeting. Starting this year, I am going to include a couple conviction plays each week. These are plays that I have my eye on for tournaments, both in single-entry and large-field contests. I suppose you could call them my gut plays with reasoning behind them.
