On the Range: The Honda Classic
This is a new, periodic series that will be featured whenever I happen to be the golf course and am able to attend and analyze the practice rounds.
Why would one want to watch the practice rounds? And how did it start? The whole idea of watching and analyzing players for DFS purposes during practice rounds started last year at the Valspar Championship, at least for me. There I witnessed a young rising star, that no one had heard about yet, in Patrick Cantlay. He wound up finishing second in the tournament at a 2% ownership. Talk about getting an edge!
Then, the idea was solidified in my eyes when I reported on Brooks Koepka’s injured wrist at the Tournament of Champions, an injury that now has him sidelined him until at least the Masters, and resulted in a second-to-last place finish in the tournament (at a 20% ownership no less!).
