Patriots vs. Jets – NFL Player Props
- Aaron Rodgers Over/Under 1.5 Rushing Yards
- Jacoby Brissett Over/Under 16.5 Completions
- Mike Williams Over/Under 23.5 Receiving Yards
Aaron Rodgers UNDER 1.5 Rushing Yards (-125, BetMGM)
Aaron Rodgers had 1 carry for a negative yard in Week 1 against the 49ers and 2 carries for a positive yard in Week 2 against the Titans. The second of those “carries” against the Titans was a kneel-down to end the game. Rodgers, 40 years old and coming off of a torn Achilles, has no incentive to scramble under any circumstances. It’s also highly unlikely that the team subjects him to any quarterback sneaks, given his age and the fact that the Jets have two very capable running backs on the roster. If Rodgers never takes off for a run, this cashes. If he picks up a yard or two somewhere along the way, we might be able to get it back on a kneel-down if New York has a late lead and finds themselves in victory formation.
Jacoby Brissett OVER 16.5 Completions (-110, Bet365)
Jacoby Brissett only has 15 completions in each of his first 2 games this fall, but he could eclipse that number on Thursday against the Jets. New England played from in front for the entirety of their Week 1 win over the Bengals, and the Patriots never trailed by more than a single score in Week 2 against the Seahawks.
Tonight could be a different story, with the team suffering from an extensive injury report. Brissett and the Patriots could be forced to throw the ball 30 times if they find themselves in a negative game script. Considering that Brissett ranks 26th out of 34 qualified quarterbacks in aDOT through 2 weeks, it seems unlikely that they take many deep shots downfield. Instead, expect them to look for quick completions in the short passing game to move the chains.
This is a targetable number against a New York defense that is missing their top-two pass rushers and potentially their best linebacker.
Mike Williams OVER 23.5 Receiving Yards (-113, Bally)
Garrett Wilson is the clear alpha wide receiver in this New York passing attack, which means that he likely gets the Christian Gonzalez treatment. Gonzalez is one of the most talented young cornerbacks in the NFL, which could force Aaron Rodgers to look elsewhere at times.
The good news for Mike Williams is that the Patriots rank 11th in DVOA against WR2 and 26th in DVOA against WR3 early in 2024. New England’s secondary has struggled so far this fall, ranking 17th in EPA/play and 21st in success rate against the pass. Williams ran 24 routes in Week 2 after running only 6 routes in Week 1. He’s a deep-ball threat, who could clear this market number on one reception.
