Hittin' The Nuts - SquirrelPatrol's NFL DFS Lineup Advice for Thursday Night Football (Patriots vs. Jets)
Want to hit the nuts and take down 1st place in these massive contests posted by FanDuel and DraftKings? Who better to walk you through their favorite NFL DFS picks than SquirrelPatrol! Undoubtedly one of the best DFS players in the game, SquirrelPatrol has accumulated 100+ Live Final seats, took 2nd place in the 2023 DraftKings Fantasy Baseball World Championship for a $600,000 prize, and most recently, took down the NFL Milly Maker in Week 2 of last season.
It’s Week 3 already, starting with an AFC East showdown between the Patriots and Jets at MetLife Stadium. Both of these teams come in at 1-1 and have higher expectations for this season after stumbling with sub-.500 records last year. Offense was an issue for both teams last year, with the Patriots scoring the fewest points per game and ranking 30th in yards per game, while the Jets ranked 29th in scoring and 31st in yards per game. With Aaron Rogers and Jacoby Brissett at the helm this year things have been slightly better, but the total for this one has been set at a relatively low 38.5 points with the Jets as 6-point favorites. We have no major injury news for the game, but be sure to follow the RotoGrinders’ NFL starting lineups page for updated depth chart information as inactives hit for the latest details in case there are any surprises.
Let’s sort through the slate and figure out what to do with our DFS lineups.

Patriots vs. Jets Showdown NFL DFS Lineup Advice
Primetime Game History
We don’t have to go back too far for the Jets’ last primetime game, as they played on Monday Night Football in Week 1 for the second season in a row this year. Breece Hall came in as the most popular CPT in the DraftKings large-field contest (19.3%) while Garrett Wilson ranked 4th (11.6%) after Deebo Samuel and Jordan Mason (in the game Christian McCaffrey was a surprise inactive). Aaron Rogers came in with a low 5.4% CPT ownership, and the next Jet was surprisingly Mike Williams at 2.6%. Hall and Wilson made it onto the winning roster in the FLEX spots, but it was Jets WR Allen Lazard who was the winning CPT with 2 touchdowns. Interestingly, the winning lineup had Lazard at CPT without playing Rodgers in the FLEX.
While the Jets are recent primetime participants, the Patriots last primetime game was last season and featured Bailey Zappe as the starting QB, with Kevin Harris the leading rusher and Hunter Henry as the leading receiver. Given their turnover and coaching changes, there probably isn’t much benefit from analyzing their last single-game contest.
Looking at lineups from the Jets’ last primetime game, we once again see a contest where a lower-priced, lower-owned CPT WR lands on the winning roster with a big game that allows multiple high-priced players into FLEX spots. Often, we don’t want to avoid chalk entirely, but it can be critical to find at least one lower-owned but still viable option, even if it is at the CPT spot.
