It’s been an up and down week for my lineups. My main squad has Patrick Cantlay, Hideki Matsuyama, and Tony Finau, but it also features Gary Woodland, Tiger Woods, and Cameron Champ. My showdown lineup in round two was great other than Joel Dahmen, who fired a birdie-free 77. It was still a solid day overall and my full tournament lineup is in decent enough shape that I can’t complain.
I’m writing this right as the last golfers are finishing up their rounds on Friday, so we don’t have tee times out for Saturday. I expect them two go out in twosomes with no split tees. If that’s the case, this could provide a huge advantage for golfers with early tee times. There are heavy thunderstorms expected overnight (that may or may not hit the course) and the course played tougher in the afternoon in the first two rounds.
As long as they do the wide range between tee times, I will be loading up on golfers down the leaderboard. With no finishing position points awarded for showdown or weekend contests, I love playing the weather angle. If they decide to roll out the threesomes with split tees and bunched tee times, there won’t be much of a weather angle and I will post an update to the picks late Friday evening.
