PGA DFS: Charles Schwab Challenge Round 2 Breakdown
Round 2 Targets
The old saying, “you should never count your chickens before they hatch” was a great way to describe the first round. In my main lineup, I had Ryan Palmer and Brian Harman, who were atop the leaderboard after their first eight holes. Palmer’s round quickly took a dive in the wrong direction and then I had to watch Harris English, Webb Simpson, and Rickie Fowler bleed strokes all over the course. While my main lineup is all but dead, I’m hoping to have a sweat in MME come Sunday. And if not, there is always showdown and I’m here to break down my favorite targets for the second round.
Colonial Country Club is playing a little differently than we’ve seen in the past. For round one, we had little to no wind, watered down greens, the absence of fans/grandstands, and a much stronger field. We typically think of this as a less than driver track, but golfers were out there hitting bombs and cutting corners. Bryson DeChambeau was a great example, as he hit four drives over 330 yards. I still view this as a second shot course, but golfers are being more aggressive this time around. For that reason, I’m placing a bigger emphasis on strokes gained off the tee in my model.
